On August 31, 2011, I’ll be joining Tony Sutherland for his live recording “The Living Room Sessions.” I’m going to be stepping out of my music pastor role and going BACK to BASS! I figured, since I haven’t been flying the flag of bassist for quite some time that I’d chronicle my journey.
The Back to Bass post will be sporadic, so keep an eye out.
Let me update you on what’s take place so far…
History
- I stopped playing as a lifestyle about five years ago. I was traveling with Tony, but then I took a music pastorate.
- Sold my bass a little more than two years ago. We needed some extra money… This was a bad decision for my bass-ability… but all things work out for good.
- A few months ago my friend Andy McMillan gave me this bass that was in a music store fire. It’s practically destroyed, but it plays and he gave it to me for free. win/winnish
The Past Week
Tony called me the other day and asked if I would play on this project. Everything checked out, but I don’t have a bass.
So, Ashleigh and I made the decision to just go ahead and buy one. We found a great deal on THE bass.
I currently have an Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling (HS) in transit to my local guitar center. Here’s a pic…
I still have some things that would improve my playing experience. SO, I’m adding a Solomon’s List… a list of “if I had I would” items. (to be published later)
