Capo is a great tool for changing a songs tempo and key. I have used the app for about a year now, and I thought I’d share my major uses for the app.
Transcribing
Sometimes I just can’t figure something out, and I need to slow it down and listen closely. The tempo adjustment allows me to hear eighth notes like whole notes if necessary. For the easy stuff… the stuff you can transcribe the first time you hear it, it’s great to slow down so you’re hands can keep up with your ears.
Practicing
If you can play with the speed increased then you’ll definitely be able to play it at a normal tempo. I like to speed up tough runs, then my normal playback is super easy.
Change the Key
If you are a key changer (which I am not), then you can easily change the key and export as a new audio file. This keeps you from doing the “listen to this CD, but we’re not gonna play it the same…” routine.
Capo is available in the Mac App Store and of course it’s also available for the iPhone.
