A Baptism of Relevance

Acts 2:8

Sometimes it’s good to break out of the “programming” of our minds. We’ve been programmed to look at this passage of scripture as the cornerstone text for Pentecost. However, there is a unique idea in there… The word native.

Native means “being the place or origin of a person or thing.” As we minister to people in relevance, that mean that we must become aligned with where people are from, how they think and what they do. Relevance is all about the “matter at hand” or in ministry it’s better stated “what makes people care.”

Remember this week, people are interested in coming to your church to hear you sound smart. They aren’t coming to be confused. They want to hear you speak to them in a language that’s native to them… Share the good news of Jesus this week in a way that your community understands.

It doesn’t get any more relevant than that.

Blessings!
