Their Perception vs My Reality

John 7:28  Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, ”You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.29  ”I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”

John 7:41  Others were saying, “This is the Christ.” Still others were saying, “Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?”

John 8:14  Jesus answered and said to them, ”Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.

Bold Italics mine.

I will never forget my first Pastoral Hospital Visit. I was with one of the other ministers who was in his 50′s. We walk up to the doors into ICU, explain that we are pastors, and the nurse looks at me and says to the other pastor, “Surely he’s not a pastor.” And yes, I was a credential holding minister. I was certainly not happy about the comment.

Maybe you’ve had a day recently where someone showed you less respect than you deserve. Maybe you’re having a difficult time really believing that you are able to be who you’re called to be. Be encouraged. The about scriptures reminded me during my morning devotions that Jesus, too, knew He was called, appointed and anointed to do something and people just didn’t want to accept it. The last passage (8:14) shows us that people would receive Him because He was from the wrong side of the tracks.

Wow! Even Jesus was disrespected in His ministry… people wanted more from Jesus. People expected more from Jesus. But you know what…? Some people expect to much!

So today, be encouraged. Your reality is what God says it is! Get your news feed from above. You don’t have to believe your own press.

You’re gonna make it.

Blessings!
