That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring…
(Romans 4:16 ESV)
God has made promises… the Bible says they’re “yes and amen.” Meaning that even if the promise hasn’t come yet, it’s already been fulfilled in the Heavens.
Often promises being fulfilled also require some action on our part. For instance, when you tithe the curse is lifted. You tithe and God fulfills that particular promise.
We tend to get really caught up on our side of fulfilling the obligation to obtain the promise. When we fail, we are discouraged that now we’ve postponed or disqualified the promise.
This is simply wrong believing. We must do our part, but God knows that you can’t perform perfectly. That’s why God made a promise to Abraham that depended on faith, not performance. When you mess up, remember to keep your faith and trust high. God’s promise to you doesn’t depend on your performance but on faith (FYI faith usually and should produces performance.) Then, when you mess up… don’t fret because your promise rests on the goodness, faithfulness and unmerited favor of God.
His grace is more than enough!
Blessings!
