Prayer and the Word

“…But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
(Acts 6:4 ESV)

I must make a confession… the life a music/creative/worship/whatever you call it pastor is very full. I spend an entire week developing, managing and executing. It can be exhausting.

It’s very full… and I love what I do. But I feel this desire growing inside of me to devote myself to prayer and the word. I am falling so deeply in love with the scriptures. I no longer feel the need to read. I want to be in the scriptures.

I am not at a point in my ministry to do this yet. In the 3 verses prior to Acts 6:4, the apostles who say we will devote ourselves to prayer and the word, also say pick seven good men and we will appoint them this duty. The duty being the things other than prayer and the word.

Right now, I’m one of those seven men. I’m staying busy, keeping my pastor from being busy. I actually said to someone this Sunday, “I’m busy so he doesn’t have to be.” (On Sunday of course. My pastor IS busy… so is yours.)

So, I just thought I would confess. I am looking forward to being able to devote myself to prayer and the word… one day.
Blessings on your journey as well!
