There is a MORE accurately

Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus. (Acts 18:24-28 ESV, bold mine)

Did you know that there’s more. When Priscilla and Aquila explained the way more accurately to Apollos, they weren’t clearing up the fuzzy details. Apollos was competent, instructed, and accurate. But he knew only the baptism of John… or in other words, the only baptism he knew was John’s baptism. That says that there was another baptism that would make the explanation of the way of God more accurate.

What other baptism is there?

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1:4-5 ESV)

The more accurately is that there isn’t just the baptism of John, but the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The overflowing, overwhelming, overtaking presence of the living God throughout our whole being.

I want to encourage you today. I know that some of my readers come from a camp of people who do not emphasis the glorious gift of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Seek and you will find, my friend. Open yourself up so God can pour it into you.

There is more… and it is more accurate.
