About

Mayfield FamilyHello, my name is Jason Mayfield. First let me say, “Thank you for visiting this site!” It really is an honor to have you stop by jasonmayfield.com.

Secondly, I would like to tell you a little about myself…

I was born in 1986 in Birmingham, AL. I still like my tea sweet, food fried and air conditioning extremely cold. I think these are fairly normal traits of Alabama natives.

Growing up, I was benefitted by the painful processes I have lived through. Fortunately, God has graciously given me an “overcomer anointing” that has sustained me through these years. I have been able to consider these painful processes a blessing (on this side) rather than a curse.

I would not have been able to make it through the difficult times of my childhood/adolescence without the encouragement and admonishment of Godly mentors in the local church, many not being pastors… but instead local-church-members who saw a promising destiny for me. These were the people who taught me how to live a Godly-life, manage my relationships, take care of my finances and many of them teaching me the musical and creative skills that I use in my work today.

I was born-again into the Kingdom of God in the sixth grade at a Bible Study hosted by the Master’s Commission of what would become my home church. On the first day of eighth grade year of school, I remember verbalizing for the first time that I wanted “to be a music pastor” when I grew up. It has been my dream for many years, and I’m actually still dreaming of the music pastor I am to become. I’m not finished yet!

Rarely have I considered myself an artist or creative individual. I really believe that I’m a local-church minister. The pursuit isn’t a record contract or a touring schedule, but I’m in a passionate pursuit of excellence and encounters with the love of God in the local-church. That’s what it’s about… the local-church. If you want to find me, I’m in the church office… working on church work… for the people in the community… so they can be effected by the local-church ministry. I hope you agree, that lives are changed through the local church.

I have had the opportunity to work in several churches in my seven years of occupational ministry. I wasn’t really hoping to work in so many churches, but things happen and I have. I’ve experienced most ministerial conditions available in the kingdom… I don’t know what I’m doing/I know what I’m doing, we’ve got no budget/we’ve got a big budget, the pastor is a great guy/the pastor is mean, lots of volunteers/doesn’t anyone want to help, pastor led church/board led church, small church/mid-sized church/mega church… lots of different experiences that have, I believe, made me a better person and minister.

When it gets down to the bottom line, we’re just excited about being part of the local-church, making a difference for the Kingdom and loving wonderful people, called the Body of Christ!
