Worship is a spiritual experience.
It’s a little known fact, but worship is not the opener to service. It isn’t a pre-message event so people have time to arrive in time for the offering. It is a moment where people can express their affection to the creator of the universe and have an experience with the presence of the love of God.
Celebration and Worship should be life giving.
When we come together and begin to celebrate in worship, it should make a positive impression on people who don’t understand it. It shouldn’t leave them saying. “That was weird.” But instead, “I don’t know what that was, but I can’t wait to be involved in it again!” We don’t accomplish this by dumbing down our presentation and expression, but buy cranking up the energy and giving more.
Honor preparation.
When we honor rehearsing, planning and stargazing we are insuring the success of the planned and unplanned. A failure to plan is a plan to fail.
Use widely enjoyed musical genres.
Everyone should hear something they’ll like over the course of a month.
Everyone is invited.
Music ministry is for everyone, no one is turned away. Everyone can’t always do what they want to do, but we insure that there is a place for them to get involved.
Resource above average.
People learn in different ways. Let’s imagine that there were five ways that people could learn something, only five… in the whole world. Wouldn’t it be incredible if we have three of those ways available? That’s what we’re attempting to do. There may be infinite ways that people learn, at least when you include all the variables, but we’re going to attempt to provide a majority of the common-denominators of music education for our participants.
Care for everyone.
Joining a church program, such as the music ministry, comes with a great benefit… we’ll call it “personal pastoral care.” People being involved allows them to know us and be known by us.
Utilize new technology.
Technology is changing. People change slower than technology. That’s why we don’t change to using the newest and greatest gadgets and technology for our people… but we do make it available.
Example: We have rehearsal MP3′s available for download online. That’s how I’d like it done if I was one of the choir members. Howver, our priority is on the production of our rehearsal CD’s – that way everyone who has not made the change is well taken care of.
