Good stuffish, just a thought on the audio bible. 80% of Jesus' listeners couldn't read. An audio bible was all they had...Nothing wrong with that.

Jason,
Great post. I'm not sure how I even found it, someone RT on Twitter, I think. Thanks, Twitter, right!?

Anyway, this is a timely read for me and yet another source of confirmation to what God is speaking in my heart. I'm always looking upward to mentors, yet, I'm sort of crossing that threshold where I'm beginning to just HOPE and PRAY that there are a few people out there who would look to me, my experiences, my lifestyle, and my 25+ years of being involved in worship ministry, and hope I can help them.

I'm 41, and have been asking God to bring those people to me, if they exist. He answered that prayer this week, and I have a wonderful time mentoring a young, single man this week and will be meeting another for coffee tomorrow morning.

It's also one of the primary reasons I decided to pick up blogging again myself. (just posted a 2-part series on "Why I Started Blogging Again" this week.

I dunno where the tweet came from that sent me to read this, but I'm convinced it was God-ordained!

I know I personally get way into works and lose sight of the grace of God. I think, however, from my reading of scripture the most faithful of all believers weren't rewarded with money or power or things of this earth, they were tortured, persecute and suffered and you know what is fascinating, they considered it the highest honor. Did they enjoy it. um, no, but they knew that the world hates what God expects of it and if you follow God's path whole-heartedly I truly believe you should expect to be suffer in some ways for the Kingdom and I think this is lost among today's Christians, including myself. I've been expecting God to cure me of my ills and make me financially successful as a Christian. This I'm beginning to realize is horribly wrong. Having great things thrust upon us only gets us closer to the world, not God. Suffering is what I'm beginning to understand is what we, I, need to learn is the ultimate way to get closer to God. I'm not very eloquent with words, but I hope you get what I mean.
